Ruth Irupé Sanabria
Ruth Irupé Sanabria was born in Bahia Blanca, Argentina and raised between Washington, D.C., and Seattle, Washington. Her first collection of poetry, The Strange House Testifies was published by Arizona State University/Bilingual Press. Her second collection, Beasts Behave in Foreign Land, received the Letras Latinas/ Red Hen Press Award. Her poems have appeared in anthologies such as What Saves Us: Poems of Empathy and Outrage in the Age of Trump; Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism; Latinas: Protests and Struggles in the 21st Century USA, and U.S. Latino Literature Today. She is a CantoMundo fellow and holds an MFA from NYU. She works as a high school English teacher in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
